2017&2018 Tax returns
City where company is located (optional): Marengo

I trusted H&R Block to complete my 2017 and 2018 tax returns. A letter from the IRS indicated that I owed over $49,000.00 in federal taxes which is absurd because I didn't even earn that much that year. When I went back to the H&R Block office it was "off-season" and my tax preparer was not there. The person in the office filed a notice saying that we disagreed with the IRS findings, but he did not attempt to look into the issue at all. This made me very uncomfortable so I took my returns to an independent CPA who told me he could not believe the mistakes my preparer made. They were basic, Tax 101 issues that someone with a single year of tax prep classes would have been able to handle. I am so disappointed in H&R Block. If the tax preparer did not know how to handle my return he should have asked for help or been honest enough to tell me I should go somewhere else. I will be seeking a full refund.

2019 tax software

After eternal hold times, and transfers, I proved to H&R Block via emailed screen captures, that their software was defective for even simple W-2 tax returns which use form 8962 for healthcare.

Originally, they asked for only my receipt and mailing address by email to process a refund. That's it. Then someone called, asking for my social security number. Then, when I emailed again, asking where is my promised refund, they replied, asking for my date of birth.

Very suspicious, looking like a setup for identity theft, and they are obviously trying to wear me out with all their demands, rather than honestly admitting their flaw, and issuing me a refund. Outrageous.

Was told to pick up prepared taxes on 3-18. When I went in, agent told me she hadn't worked on them. I spent 1 1/2 hours with her answering questions while she filled out forms.. She said she would finish and review them and call me when they were ready to pick up. No call. Called last week, 3-26, and was told agent would call me back. Never did. Tried to call her today ( 3- 30). The automated voice asked the zip code of the office I wanted to connect to. I gave the zip code that is on the agent's business card. Voice came back saying there was no office at that zip. Then was told to wait for the next available agent. Wait time was 50 min. I've been on hold via speaker phone now for over 2 hours. This is in Woodland WA. I don't know of others experience with H&R BLOCK but I am completely underwhelmed. I would not recommend them and will not use them in the future.

Tax preparer did not include a W-2 into our 2018 tax return
City where company is located (optional): Lawrence, KS

I WOULD NEVER USE H & R BLOCK SERVICES EVER AGAIN! THEY APPARENTLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO TAXES FROM MY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM!
A tax preparer-Mary Jane Moore from H&R Block located at 2540 Iowa St, Ste J Lawrence, KS, prepared my 2018 tax return that I dropped off. She DID NOT include one of my W-2's. NOW, the IRS is coming after me for over $573.00 for federal and $113 for State, because of her HUGH error. I trusted her 100% to prepare my taxes correctly and GUESS WHAT!! THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! NOW I END OWING MONEY FOR HER HUGH ERROR!
I went to H&R Block after I received a letter from the IRS on January 10, 2020. I met with tax preparer, Paul A Baker, he assured me that he would get right on this. WELL....a month later he just filed a POM (Peace of Mind) Report to have this investigated. He said it can take 4-6 weeks. He also said that he and his manager, Bille couldn't figure out how to file the report. He also stated that he has been busy with other people's tax returns. That's real help & concern huh?
THIS IS LUDICROUS AND OBSCURED....THAT I HAVE TO PAY OUT MONEY (THAT I DON'T HAVE) FOR A TAX PREPARER'S HUGH MISTAKE. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT ISN'T MY FAULT?
IF I WERE TRYING FIND A PLACE TO PREPARE MY TAXES, I WOULD CERTAINLY THINK TWICE ABOUT GOING TO H& R BLOCK BECAUSE THEY WILL SCREW YOU IN THE END..LIKE THEY HAVE DONE ME!
